Last month the Australian Pork Leadership Course (PLC) participants completed their course with a study tour to the US.

The trip saw participants journey to Iowa to explore the American Pork Industry – visiting Iowa State University to learn about the latest swine research and industry outcomes, followed by an on farm tour of Brennaman Pork, a 58,000 sow family enterprise with state- of- the- art Prop 12 facilities. The business also showcased their feed mill and truck wash biosecurity practices.

Another highlight of the study tour for the group was the World Pork Expo, the world’s largest pork-specific trade show offering innovation, education and networking opportunities with more than 10,000 pork producers and agriculture professionals in attendance. Before departing Iowa, the leadership participants were given an inside look and tour of global ingredient supplier Kemin Industries Worldwide Headquarters.

The group then journeyed to Colorado to learn from other agricultural industries including the Agrivoltaics Learning Centre, Bella Holstein Dairy, Five Rivers Kuner feedlot, Colorado State Parks fish hatchery, and Prairie Ridge Bison.

PLC is designed to develop and hone the skills and attributes of our industry leaders. We are proud to celebrate the hard work and growth of the graduating 2023/24 cohort.
