Scale up trials on OTH’s pork offal valorization technology

Project summary

The project aims to identify new revenue streams for Australian pork producers by ensuring every part of a pig is value added. This is being addressed through creating a set of new valuable products derived from pork abattoir waste. 

This project will then be fine tuned into a commercial process and a business model that will be beneficial to both the overall Australian pork industry, as well as to individual Australian pork producers.

Value for producers:

  • Aims to produce protein concentrates, superior tallow, collagen and bone calcium
  • Aids in achieving maximal profitability from animals 
  • Aims to transform operations in terms of profitability and environmental and commercial sustainability
