Report on the economic contribution of the pork industry
APL has published a report on the economic contribution of the pork industry to Australia in 2015-16. The report, completed by economic consultancy group ACIL Allen, covers the national and state-level contributions of the pork industry in terms of revenue, employment, and household income. The report also models the contribution of new or expanded pig production businesses to regional communities. It also shows the impact of pork imports, and explores opportunities for exports.
This information helps demonstrate the importance of our industry to the public, the media, government, and political leaders. We encourage producers to draw on the key findings of the report in their communications with public, government, and other stakeholders.
APL has prepared a summary and some draft language for producers to use. Follow the links below to access the summary or to read the full report.
