New Emissions Reduction Fund method – Animal Effluent Management
The Emissions Reduction Fund provides incentives for Australian businesses and land managers to take practical actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Participants earn carbon credits by undertaking activities using an approved method, which sets out the rules for the activity.
A new manure management method has been approved for use in piggeries, replacing the three earlier manure management methods.
New projects will need to register under the new method. Existing projects can choose to transition to the new method or remain on their existing method.
The method was developed with input from APL as well as the broader livestock industry, scientists, technical and financial experts and consultants, a technical working group, and public consultation submissions.
